We know that Elizabeths husband Charles enlisted in the army and served firstly as a private in the Royal Sussex Regiment (no.12165) before transferring to the Royal Fusiliers where he served in the 8th Battalion as Lance Corporal (GS/60621 ).
On 19th July 1917 Charles sadly died from his wounds in France and was buried at Monchy British Cemetery, Monchy-Le-Preux, France.

Elizabeths younger daughter Hilda was a clerk for 'Fighter Command' in the WAAF and is residing at their base at Bentley Prior in Middlesex in 1939.
We presume that family must have moved back to Sussex after 1939 as Elizabeth dies in Sussex in 1970
